Thor On The Run!!!

Postby Defender of Poor Goats » Sun Nov 13, 2005 8:26 am

After unmasking Thor for what he has done to the precious goats of the region he went into hiding to evade capture. For some time now we have been searching but not until recently an anonymous tip came in that he has now changed his name to Gargoyle! While searching all of veng-land for this Gargoyle, Another tip had come in that he was spotted in Merc-land. Following this tip D.P.G. took off scouring the coutryside of Mercs looking for the elusive Gargoyle and Behold!!!! We found Him Humping Goats in his own Server in Mercs!!!! Before we could get break out the Print Screen he vanished. But we will keep searching and with any luck our under-cover agents will acquire Evidence of his wrong doings. When this has been accompished we will provide the proof through this forum.

That is all for now, but remember Gargoyle.......
WE'RE WATCHING YOU!!!

It's kinda hard to hump a goat from a Marauder II. The gun keeps getting in the way.

Yea, I played against him and Alesser a couple of weeks ago. He did stick to the large mechs a lot. I really can't say anything bad about piloting a 100 ton mech 'cause I was in an experimental Dashi config at the time. I held my own, but ultimately ditched the config as too specialized for a map like Colosium.

Please don't ask why. But I prefer the Loki.

At 65 tons its kind of middle of the road. Not really that great on armor. But packs a deceint amount. Has a deceint array of electronics. A good number of weapon slots that can be configured in a variety of ways. But it shares the common weakness of most clan mechs. Major firepower is located in the arms. It also carries speed and maneuverability similar to a med mech which comes in handy when things get close.

I have 14 different configurations for that mech alone. I would say out of that 4 of them are lethal. 7 others are so/so. They can do damage but I would get eaten alive without support. The other 3 are out of plain curiousity really. Completely useless.

Out of the 4 two of them are "brawler" configs. One being a specific design for urban combat (point blank in your face carnage). One a missile boat (I hate missile boats therefore don't use them, but have it just the same). The other brawler was designed for close range (400m) support but does well on its own. The other one is designed to be its namesake. 800 m ranged support/hit and run. Just an annoying troublemaker. All of them for HLA servers though. Find it more of a challenge to make an effective mech on those servers. Really have to work to balance things out depending on what you need the thing to do.

But if I really desire an assault mech I only have 27 different configs for the battlemaster lol.

I too like the Loki for HLA games, and most of my configs are short-range brawlers too. I never found it to be a good long range mech (at least not the way I configured it), and used a Thor for that. The Thor's jumpjets and quick torso twisting make for a better moving sniper, as apposed to a stationary poptart sniper.

This sounds like a good discussion that should be moved to one of the mercs folders.

I would like to hear more about these 27 Battlemaster configs. LOL

Try outfitting the Loki with twin clan gauss rifles and a light ppc. Its plenty fast and maneuverable. Packs ECM and LAMS. Most effective when used in harrassing the enemy. The recycle time of the gauss rifles makes it hard to fight back if you stay in one place too long. To make the most of this config if you are forced to slug it out chain the weapons. Thats about as good as it gets with range on the loki.

As far as the 27 battlemaster configs. Each mech seems to take a life of its own I guess. Some mechs seem to favor certain ranges and weapons over others. I am trying to find the battlemasters pulse to so speak. It's farily decient for its size. It's just that every configuration of Battlemaster that I have doesn't really do well on its own. So in my quest for the "perfect" battlemaster I have come up with 27 different confgurations.

Heck, I thought my beloved Loki was junk till I cranked up the speed and armor, and packed a pair of LBXAC20's on one out of sheer despiration. Voila. Found the Loki's pulse by accident.

Thor sticks to 100 ton mechs because he's trying to compinsate for "something".
